A walk in Killarney
Whether it’s via a private tour or during a weekend trip to Kerry, it’s always nice to go for a walk in Killarney. Old-fashioned facades make you feel like you’re traveling back in time.
There are parkings on the outskirts if you’d like to stay for a few hours. Very practical, these will allow you to walk around Killarney village. No need for a car given the small size of the village.
As explained in the description, there is nothing special to do in Killarney. Just take a stroll along churches, traditional shops and small restaurants. And about restaurants…
Where to eat and drink
Being a fan of special atmospheres, I’d recommended two peculiar places that are far from your traditional Irish pub.
The Shire, County in Ireland
Yes, you read that correctly, I’m talking about the Shire from Tolkien. The Shire is a themed pub that will make you feel like you’re going for tea, or a pint, with Bilbo.
Robs Ranch House
Another atypical restaurant in Killarney is Robs Ranch House. It’s an amazing cowboy saloon with “Wanted” posters, mannequins, replica weapons and many other elements (up to the details in the toilet!).
Besides the Wild West vibe, the grilled and Tex-Mex-style food is simply succulent.

Where to stay in Killarney?
Although I have nothing against hotels, I do think that the most typical experience is that of the Bed and Breakfast. In addition to meeting locals, you will often get fresh breakfast with home-made products, a treat!
I tested the Cherry Tree Guesthouse in Killarney which was particularly nice and very good value. Located between the village and the national park, we found it perfect for our weekend.
Let’s go!
After your night or simple stop in Killarney, it’s time to leave and visit the area. Don’t hesitate to read my articles on my hike on top of Carrauntuohill – Ireland’s highest mountain – or my visit to Killarney National Park
